Nolan N-Com helmets have received ECE 22-05 standard approval (currently in force in Europe) including when the N-Com system is activated. Nolan helmets therefore comply with legislative requirements, even when they are equipped with one of the N-Com communication systems.
The volume of the system not only depends on the N-Com system, but also on the devices it is connected to (Mp3 players, mobile phones, radios, etc...).
Important!: Adjust the volume of the N-Com system (where possible) and of the audio sources connected to it before using the system on the road.
Important!: Adjust the volume of the N-Com system (where possible) and of the audio sources connected to it so as to avoid high volume playback. Prolonged exposure to high volume sounds might result in hearing damage.
Important information to avoid hearing damages
Permanent hearing loss might result from using the N-Com system at a high volume. Set the volume at a safe level. With time, listening to high volume sounds might feel normal, but it does result in hearing damages. If hearing buzzing or muffled sounds, stop playback and have your hearing checked. If you keep the volume low, you can increase your listening time without incurring hearing damages.
There are many factors that affect communication (aerodynamic exposure of the motorcycle, helmet used, environmental noise, etc...), so it is impossible to define a limit beyond which communication becomes unacceptable.
Basic kit was devised for easy installation inside the helmet by the user. No special equipment or modifications are required for the helmet, since the helmet itself is designed to house the N-Com communication system.
The Bluetooth Kit2 can be used with an helmet equipped either with a Basic Kit2 or a Basic Kit. The Bluetooth Kit2 automatically detects which Basic Kit is being used and it will work in mono mode with the Basic Kit and in stereo mode with the Basic Kit2.
This configuration is possible but you will need to use the adaptor for the Bluetooth Kit to make it work with the Basic Kit2. Without the adaptor, the sound will be emitted by one loudspeaker only.
Yes, all of the following configurations are possible (via cable or via Bluetooth).
N.B.: A helmet equipped with a Bluetooth Kit2, Bluetooth Kit, or an Intercom Kit must be also equipped with a Basic Kit or a Basic Kit2

No, Nolan Group devised the N-Com system specially for Nolan and X-Lite helmets with N-Com attachments.
It is possible to install the N-Com communication systems only on Nolan helmets with N-Com attachments. For a list of helmets with N-Com attachments, please go the following website:
- Nolan helmets
- X-lite Helmets
These special helmets have N-Com in their name, such as the N103 N-Com, the N102 N-Com, the N84 N-Com, the N43 N-Com, the N32 N-Com, etc... They are also recognisable by the N-Com symbol on the left side of the helmet.
The choice of the correct cable depends on the N-Com system being used. Check out all the possible configurations CLICK HERE.
It is the basic outfit which can be easily installed into the Nolan helmets designed for fitting N-Com communication systems. It consists of a pair of loudspeakers and a noise-cancelling microphone. The new Basic Kit2 is also designed for playback in stereo mode when used together with a Bluetooth Kit2 (N-Com Bluetooth and N-Com Intercom Bluetooth configuration) or with a Multimedia Wire2 cable.
The Basic Kit system always works in Mono mode, while the Basic Kit2 is designed for playback in Stereo mode.
The Basic Kit2 works in stereo mode only when connected to a Bluetooth Kit2 or when used alone with a Multimedia Wire2 cable.
The Basic Kit is equipped with an audio input connector (IN) for connection to external audio sources (Mp3 players, GPS systems). It is also equipped with an output connector (OUT) for intercom connection via Basic Kit-equipped helmets. For further information, CLICK HERE to refer to the compatibility page.
Depending on the connection and the cable used, the basic card must be used on the appropriate side:
- Blue side (PASS): to be used for connection to a Mono type cable (Multimedia wire or Mobile Wire) or for cable connection as passenger to another helmet.
- Red side (SOLO): to be used for connection to a Multimedia Wire2 Stereo type cable. By using a Mono cable (Multimedia wire) with the basic card inserted from the red side (alone), only the audio signal from the left channel will be heard.
| Caution: Never use the Basic Card on its RED (SOLO) side in case of connection via cable to another helmet. IMPROPER USE MIGHT RESULT IN DAMAGES TO THE SYSTEM. |
If the Basic Kit does not have a double-side basic card, it will only be possible to listen to mono quality audio as passenger connected via cable or to connect to a Multimedia Wire cable. It is not possible to use a Multimedia Wire2 cable.
The Basic Kit2 can be used without microphone without compromising the N-Com system functionality. However, the system functions will be limited because it will not be possible to answer to or to make phone calls, or to talk to the passenger.
No. The Basic Kit is the base equipment required for all N-Com configurations. Once the Basic Kit is installed, you can choose the communication solution that best suits your communication needs. The recommended configurations are: N-Com Mobile, N-Com Intercom, N-Com Bluetooth, N-Com Intercom Bluetooth.
N-Com consists of a range of modules that enable a variety of configurations with different characteristics and functions. It is possible to purchase different N-Com kits according to the features that are required. Refer to the N-Com Mobile, N-Com Intercom, N-Com Bluetooth, N-Com Intercom Bluetooth configurations for all details.
The Bluetooth Kit2 implements the A2DP profile for music playback from sources connected to the system via Bluetooth. It is also designed to operate both the intercom connection, and the rider-passenger connection from your mobile phone. The Bluetooth Kit2 also allows listening to music in stereo mode when used together with a Basic Kit2 or a Multimedia Wire2 cable.
Check the compatibility tables referring to mobile phones that are compatible with the Bluetooth Kit X-Series system. Nolan cannot guarantee that a mobile phone works via cable connection with the Bluetooth Kit2 system. The mobile phone must be set for automatic answer, since it is not possible to answer directly from the helmet.
| All the laws in force about road traffic must be observed. When riding, hands must be only employed to drive the vehicle. Any manual operation on the N-Com system must be carried out when the motorcycle is stopped. | |
| Warning: Listening to other equipment should not interfere with driving the vehicle, which is top priority. Carry out all operations on the electronic equipment and on the N-Com system with the vehicle stopped, in compliance with Traffic Regulations. |
The quality of sound depends on the audio equipment used and by the volume level. The volume of the audio or the Bluetooth equipment should be adjusted so that the volume is not too high, as this might distort the sound.
| Warning: Listening to other equipment should not interfere with driving the vehicle, which is top priority. Carry out all operations on the electronic equipment and on the N-Com system with the vehicle stopped, in compliance with Traffic Regulations. |
Warning: Listening to high volume sounds can distract you from driving the vehicle and may result in dangerous situations or reduce the ability to hear external noise.
Warning: Listening to high volume sounds may result in hearing damages
Users cannot update their software. To update it, please send the system to the Nolan Group.
Yes. The N-Com Bluetooth Kit2 automatically detects the Basic Kit type, thus allowing it to work. With the Basic Kit (first version), the sound will be emitted in mono mode.
A phone call can be answered in the following ways:
- By setting automatic answer on your phone (refer to the user's manual of your mobile phone): In this way, your phone will answer automatically and you can speak directly from your helmet;
- By stopping the vehicle in a suitable place (respecting the Highway Code), then answering by pressing any button to activate the answer button for your phone. It will then possible to continue the conversation directly from the helmet.
Press "on" for two seconds.
Only certain models of mobile phones allow cancelling an incoming call (Hands-Free profile) by pressing the "on" button for 2 seconds.
Yes. However, when the rider receives a phone call via Bluetooth in their helmet, the connection with the passenger is automatically interrupted; it will automatically resume at the end of the phone call.
Yes. Just press "
" and "
" at the same time.
Yes. The Bluetooth Kit2 system can be connected or disconnected from the mobile phone directly from the helmet by using the following controls:
- "on", pressed for 2 seconds to start the connection;
- "
" and "
" pressed simultaneously to disconnect.
The Bluetooth Kit2 system is certified by the Bluetooth SIG association, and it is therefore compatible with mobile phones equipped with a certified Bluetooth system. However, not all the functions on mobile phones might be available for use. For further information, refer to the internet site.
It is possible to listen to music via Bluetooth connection with a mobile phone in Stereo mode if the mobile phone is equipped with the A2DP profile. To check if this is the case, please refer to your mobile phone manufacturer webpage or go to www.a2dp.info.
Some mobile phones send music to the helmet by means of the Hands-Free (HF) profile, which is normally used for phone calls. The resulting audio quality will be inferior and sound will be emitted in Mono mode.
Yes. Each time "
" or "
" are pressed (a confirmation beep is heard in the earphones), the volume goes up or down a level, until a maximum or minimum level is reached, corresponding to a high and a low-pitched beep respectively. There are 7 volume levels, from a minimum to a maximum level.
The Bluetooth2 system can only connect to one device at a time. However, it can store more than one device previously paired up. When turned on, the system automatically searches for the last used device that can be found in its range. If more than three devices have been paired up, the connection can be activated directly from the device.
This problem occurs ONLY for software version 2.00 or older (check software version by pairing up the Bluetooth Kit2 to any mobile phone and then reading the name displayed on the device screen). The problem can be solved by using the control to deactivate the A2DP connection on the passenger's helmet (press "
" for 2 sec.). This will eliminate any feedback.
Yes, if your mobile phone uses the Bluetooth wireless technology.
Yes, all Bluetooth phones are compatible with N-Com. However, functions and characteristics may vary according to the type of software installed on the phone.
- After installing the Basic Kit correctly, make sure that the Bluetooth system is working by switching on and adjusting the volume.
- Switch the e-box off again and pair up the N-Com Bluetooth Kit2 with the mobile phone.
- Check that the pair-up is correct by making and receiving a phone call.
- Automatic answer: Set this function on your phone (if available) and the call goes straight through the helmet without you having to press any keys.
- Manual answer: If the phone that is paired up to the helmet receives a call, a particular tone is sounded in place of a ring tone (this tone depends on the phone).
To answer the call, stop the vehicle in a suitable place (respecting the Highway Code), then briefly press one of the three buttons ("on", "
" and "
").
To answer the call, stop the vehicle in a suitable place (respecting the Highway Code), then briefly press one of the three buttons ("on", "
" and "
"). "Briefly" can mean anything up to 1 second. This depends on the phone used (not on the N-Com system).
Stop the vehicle in a suitable place, respecting the Highway Code
Make the call according to the instructions for your mobile phone:
- By using the phone keypad;
- By pressing "on" for 2 seconds (if voice controls are not available).
Unfortunately, some phones perform badly due to their software. Although the phone does not allow voice calls, it stays connected to the N-Com system and so you can still receive phone calls. Normally, receiving a phone call solves the problem. Should this not work, switch the phone off and switch it on again.
This anomaly, found in some software versions of the N70 model, is linked to the incorrect management of voice calls. If the phone continues to cause problems, you will have to make calls directly from the phone. Do not make calls while you are riding.
No, it is not possible to listen to the radio directly from a Nokia N70, which does not broadcast radio sound via Bluetooth.
The A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) is a Bluetooth profile for high sound quality playback from an audio source with this profile. The N-Com Bluetooth Kit2 is equipped with the A2DP and can therefore be connected to mobile phones or music players broadcasting audio by using this profile.
Please refer to your mobile phone manufacturer webpage or go to www.a2dp.info.
The AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile) is a specific Bluetooth profile designed to control, via Bluetooth, Mp3 players (or mobile phones) equipped with A2DP. With the N-Com Bluetooth Kit2, it is possible to use the Play, Pause, Forward (Next track) controls directly from the helmet, without manual operations from the connected device.
Yes. Just pair up the N-Com Bluetooth Kit2.
Check if the A2DP profile has been installed on your mobile phone, or if this transfers music via HFP (Handsfree profile). With the HFP, the resulting audio quality will be inferior and sound will be emitted in Mono mode. To check if your mobile phone is equipped with the A2DP profile, please refer to the documentation supplied with the phone or go to www.a2dp.info.
Yes. However, the two audio signals will be superimposed. The audio input and an Mp3 player equipped with A2DP profile can be operated separately by using the relevant programs.
Press "
" for 2 seconds to activate the "Pause" control during Bluetooth audio playback. The audio via cable will still be transferred.
Check that the Bluetooth music player with A2DP profile is disconnected by pressing "
" for 2 seconds. If the Bluetooth music player is connected, the intercom connection cannot be activated.
No. It is not possible to connect a passenger and an Mp3 player via Bluetooth at the same time.
Yes. The passenger will listen to high quality sounds in mono mode.
Yes. Once the N-Com system is paired up with and connected to the phone, the music is played directly through the N-Com system. If a phone call is received or made, the Mp3 player is stopped and playback has to be resumed manually.
Note: The N70 phone is not equipped with the A2DP profile. The Mp3 tracks will be played in mono mode and with low quality sound.
The system has been tested with some satellite navigators. Please, refer to the compatibility table on the Internet page. Nolan cannot guarantee correct operation with GPS systems not yet tested.
It is quite simple to pair up a Bluetooth GPS system. Refer to the instruction manual for correct procedure or CLICK HERE to check the navigator page on our Internet site.
You will need a cable connection to listen to high quality sound music with Garmin ZUMO. With a Multimedia Wire2 cable connection, you will be able to listen to high quality sound music in Stereo mode, but not to use a phone connected via GPS system. If you use a Multimedia Wire cable, you will be able to listen to high quality sound music in mono mode. The Bluetooth connection to the Garmin ZUMO allows listening to low quality sound music (Hands-free Bluetooth profile).
The Bluetooth Kit2 system can manage both connections (GPS system and passenger's). During a communication between the GPS system and the helmet, the intercom connection is interrupted and only resumed at the end of the GPS communication.
During connection with a satellite navigator, you will be able to talk to the passenger in intercom mode via cable connection. When receiving directions from the satellite navigator, the intercom mode will be momentarily paused and then automatically resumed. If the satellite navigator is used as an Mp3 player, the intercom mode is interrupted and the passenger will need to be reconnected.
The Bluetooth Kit2 system can only connect to one device at a time. Some GPS navigators allow Bluetooth connection to specific mobile phone models. In these cases, the Bluetooth Kit2 will allow connection to a navigator and, through it, to your mobile phone. Check the compatibility of your mobile phone with the navigator.
You will need to answer by pressing the answer button on the navigator. Once the call has been answered, it will be transferred to the helmet. The phone call must be ended through the navigator as well. If the phone is connected to the navigator, and the latter is connected to the N-Com system, it will not be possible to answer the call from the helmet.
Yes. The Bluetooth Kit2 can be connected to the TomTom RIDER or RIDER II navigator via Bluetooth. A cable connection can also be used with a TomTom RIDER.

The basic configuration includes: a Nolan helmet equipped with N-Com, a Basic Kit specific for the helmet, a Mobile Wire specific for your mobile phone (You can check the list of cables available and compatibility or contact your Nolan N-Com dealer).
Mobile Wire is the cable that connects the Nolan helmet equipped with N-Com and Basic Kit to your mobile phone. There are different models of Mobile Wire available for different types of mobile phones. You can check the list of cables available and compatibility or contact your Nolan N-Com dealer.
Mobile phones usually send the ring tone inside the helmet. Some phones don't do this, because it is thought that the tone can be heard through the earpiece. In these cases, if the tone is not heard while riding, we suggest you activate Vibracall and keep the phone close to your body.
In the N-Com Mobile version it is possible to answer the phone in one of the following ways:
- By setting automatic answer on your phone (refer to the user's manual of your mobile phone). In this way, your phone will answer automatically and you can speak directly from your helmet;
- By stopping the vehicle in a suitable place, respecting the Highway Code, then answering by pressing the answer button for your phone. Continue the conversation directly from your helmet.
The N-Com mobile system (Basic Kit + Mobile Wire) does not have an amplification system for the phone signal. It is therefore only possible to adjust the volume through the settings on the phone itself.
If the new phone has a different connection, it is possible to buy only the connecting cable (Mobile Wire) that is specific to the new phone. You can check the list of cables available and compatibility or contact your Nolan N-Com dealer.
The system sometimes captures interference from the GSM network and from the mobile phone. It may be more intense in areas with poor GSM (or UMTS) reception or when passing from one receiver to another. Position the phone away from the helmet to reduce this effect.
Unfortunately, some phones perform badly due to their software. In this case, first connect the Mobile Wire to the mobile phone and then to the helmet, and make sure that the earphone icon is displayed.
For detailed information, please CLICK HERE.
The intercom kit is the wire intercom system that allows motorcyclists to speak with their passengers (both Nolan helmets must have the N-Com attachment and must be equipped with the Basic kit). The box contains: Intercom e-box, Intercom wire, battery, battery charger.
First of all, two N-Com Nolan helmets. Both helmets must be equipped with the Basic Kit. Next, only one Intercom Kit is needed. This way, both helmets will be connected via cable (cable supplied with the Intercom Kit) and intercom communication will be possible.
The cable is connects the two helmets. The control unit (the e-box) is installed on only one helmet.
Transmission is always active between the two helmets.
When the system is on, press and release the "
" or "
" keys to adjust volume. There are 7 volume levels. Each time "
" or "
" are pressed (a confirmation beep is heard in the earphones), the volume goes up or down a level, until a high (maximum) or low-pitched (minimum) beep is sounded.
No. The system automatically reduces hissing achieving excellent filtering to allow calls even at very high speeds.
Transmission is full-duplex.
Yes, it is possible to buy a series of accessories, such as the Mobile Wire, that allow riders to be connected to their own phone (as well as the passenger). It is also possible to purchase the Multimedia Wire, which allows riders to be connected to a sound source (CDs, Mp3 players, iPods, satellite navigation systems, etc.) by using the 3.5 mm audio output, which is usually used by these devices for earphones.
If answering by pressing the "on" button, rider-passenger communication is interrupted automatically. On the other hand, if the mobile is set for automatic answer, press "on" to exclude the passenger from the call.
Again, in compliance with the Highway Code, the rider can make a call in one of the following two ways:
- Make the call according to the procedure for your phone and the call goes straight through the helmet without having to press any keys;
- If the mobile phone allows the call, press and hold the "on" key for at least 2 seconds, to disconnect the passenger and activate the voice mode. Next, follow the instructions for your phone to make calls or for other voice controls.
If the rider is connected to the passenger and to an Mp3/CD player at the same time, both helmets can hear the music.
Intercom mode remains active even with music in the background.
The system also has a mute system, which deactivates both microphones, avoiding interference from the microphone while listening.
To activate the "Mute" mode press and hold the "
" for approx. 3 seconds (beep heard in the earphones).
It is possible to deactivate the intercom connection so that the passenger is unable to hear either the music or the rider's voice.
Connect only the helmet with the e-box (the rider's) to an audio source using the special multimedia wire. Music can be heard in both helmets unless the passenger is deliberately excluded. Moreover, the mute function deactivates the microphones when you only want to listen to music.
Make sure that the rider and the passenger are correctly connected via the intercom wire. Moreover, check whether rider-passenger communication is active by pressing and holding the "
" button for approx. 2 seconds (beep heard in the earphones).
No, only the rider can resume communication.
- Make sure the battery is charged and properly connected;
- Make sure the Basic Kit is correctly installed. In particular, the 10-way connector must be correctly positioned and the "positioning flap" must be properly connected to the shell.
- Make sure that the passenger helmet has a Basic Kit with electronic card correctly positioned under the protective plate;
- Make sure you have correctly connected the intercom wire: the smaller connector goes into the rider's helmet, the larger one goes into the passenger helmet;
- Make sure the microphones are active by pressing the "
" key for approx. 2 seconds until you hear a beep.
Yes. If you buy the special cable it is possible to connect the Bluetooth clip supplied by the TomTom Rider to N-Com. In this way it is still possible to connect the passenger, whereas it is not possible to connect to a mobile phone (the "in" jack is used by the TomTom cable).
Yes, you can use the TomTom navigator of the phone connected to the helmet via cable.
Yes, you can listen to Mp3 tracks. If a phone call is received or made, the Mp3 player is stopped and playback has to be resumed manually.
Use the card on its PASS side for connection to a Mono type cable (Multimedia Wire or Mobile Wire) or for cable connection as passenger to another helmet.
Use the card on its SOLO side for connection to a Multimedia Wire2 Stereo type cable. Important!: Never use the Basic Card on its RED (SOLO) side in case of connection via cable to another helmet.
The system sometimes captures interference from the GSM network and from the mobile phone. It may be more intense in areas with poor GSM (or UMTS) reception or when passing from one receiver to another. Position the phone away from the helmet to reduce this effect.
Some phones make this noise in the microphone channel, which ends up in the passenger's earphone when the Intercom system is used. N-Com is not able to filter this signal. Some phones stop sending this ticking noise when the voice controls are activated, like a "magic word".
For detailed information, please CLICK HERE.
After installing the Bluetooth Kit2 (see instruction leaflet), you will only need to pair up the Bluetooth Kit2 system with your mobile phone. In case the passenger's helmet is also equipped with an N-Com Bluetooth Kit2 system, you will also need to pair up the two N-Com systems (see instruction leaflet).
No. All pair-ups are stored in the memory, even when the helmets are switched off, and are maintained when they are switched on again.
Theoretically, this configuration is possible if the two helmets are less than ten metres apart. As soon as they move away from each other the connection is lost. Once they come back within the Bluetooth range (about 10 m), manually connect the other helmet (briefly press "on").
The passenger will be able to listen to the music from the rider's Mp3 player and you will be able to talk to each other in intercom mode.
For detailed information, please CLICK HERE.
The range of the Bluetooth Kit is more or less 10 metres.
If the connection fails (a failed BT connection is signalled by a beep in the earphone), briefly press and hold the "on" button (sound signal). This activates searching for the other helmet.
Yes. The Bluetooth Kit2 system allows each helmet, rider, or passenger to maintain the connection to the phone and to the other helmet.
The connection between the rider's helmet and the passenger's is paused and the rider is able to take the call. The passenger won't hear the voice of the calling person, and won't be heard.
Rider and passenger will be automatically reconnected at the end of the phone call.
Both the rider and the passenger will be able to hear the music. If the passenger is disconnected, they will be isolated and will not be able to hear the music. While music is playing, the intercom is on and it is possible to talk with music in the background. To mute the microphones, reducing hissing from them, it is possible to activate the "mute" function (press the "
" button for 4 seconds - double sound signal). To deactivate the "mute" function, press the "
" key for 4 seconds.
No. A further helmet cannot be connected via Bluetooth if using the A2DP profile.
If the two helmets are connected via Bluetooth, both can use the "IN" connector to connect to an audio device. The audio from the connected devices will be heard from both the rider and the passenger.
Yes. The phone must be equipped with a Bluetooth wireless communication system.
Yes, all Bluetooth phones are compatible with N-Com. However, functions and characteristics may vary according to the type of software installed on the phone. For more information go to the functions table on the www.nolan.it website.
- After installing the Basic Kit correctly, make sure that the Bluetooth e-box is working by switching on and adjusting the volume.
- Switch off the e-box again and pair up the N-Com Bluetooth Kit with the mobile phone, checking, if possible, the type of profile used by your phone against the functions table on the www.nolan.it website.
- If your phone is not on the functions table, you can try and pair it up with both profiles, checking which of the two functions correctly.
- Check that the pair-up is correct by making and receiving a phone call. Remember that if you have paired up a phone with a Handsfree profile, you have to connect the phone to the helmet every time the N-Com system is switched on by briefly pressing the "on" key. The connection request will be displayed on the phone, or you will be connected immediately and a symbol will be shown on the phone display.
The rider can answer a call in one of two ways:
- automatic answer: set this function on your phone (if available) and the call goes straight through the helmet without you having to press any keys.
- manual answer: if the phone that is paired up to the helmet receives a call, a particular tone is sounded in place of a ring tone (this tone depends on the phone).
To answer the call, stop the vehicle in a suitable place, respecting the Highway Code, then briefly press "on".
After installing the Bluetooth kit (see instructions booklet) the only specific procedure is to pair up the Bluetooth e-box with your phone and, if the passenger helmet is equipped with the N-Com Bluetooth Kit, the two N-Com systems must also be paired up. (see instructions booklet).
No. All pair-ups remain in the memory, even when the helmets are switched off, and are maintained when they are switched on again. The pair-up procedure only needs to be repeated if pairing up systems (phone, e-box, N-Com, TomTom Rider, etc.) other than those that have already been paired up.
The range of the Bluetooth kit is around 10 metres.
If the connection fails (a failed BT connection is accompanied by a beep in the earphones), press and hold the "
" key on the rider's e-box for approx. 2 seconds (sound signal). This activates a search.
N.B.: Only the rider's e-box can connect to the passenger.
When the system is on press and release the "
" or "
" keys to adjust volume. There are 7 volume levels. Each time "
" or "
" is pressed (a confirmation beep is heard in the earphones) the volume goes up or down a level, until a high (maximum) or low-pitched (minimum) beep is sounded.
This configuration is only possible if the passenger's helmet is also equipped with the Bluetooth e-box. Moreover if the phone allows intercom and a phone connection at the same time, it is possible to connect to both devices simultaneously (phone and the passenger's Bluetooth e-box). If the phone does not allow this function, you have to choose which connection to use while riding (phone or the passenger's Bluetooth e-box). It is still possible to pass from one connection to the other.
The connection between the rider's helmet and the passenger is interrupted and the rider is able to take the call. If the rider and passenger are connected via cable, the passenger will hear the rider's voice during the call, but will not be able to hear the caller and, in turn, will not be heard. The passenger is completely disconnected in the case of Bluetooth intercom.
After stopping the vehicle in a suitable place, respecting the Highway Code, the rider can answer the call by pressing "on" briefly. "Briefly" can mean anything up to 1 second. This depends on the phone and not on N-Com.
If the procedure does not work, make sure that the helmet and N-Com e-box are paired up with the right profile: Handsfree (HF) or Headset (HS). If it is not possible to know which profile your phone uses, try out the HS profile first and then try the HF profile, checking the relevant instructions carefully.
When using mobile phones with this profile, if the other person hangs up first, the phone disconnects from the helmet when the rider presses the "on" key.
Press "on" briefly to establish the connection.
To make a call the rider must:
- Stop the vehicle in a suitable place, respecting the Highway Code.
- Disconnect the passenger by pressing "on" for approx. 2 seconds.
- Make the call according to the instructions for your mobile phone (or press the "on" key briefly to activate voice controls).
- At the end of the call you can reconnect the passenger by pressing and holding the "
" key for 2 seconds (bleep in earphones).
Both rider and passenger hear the music. If the passenger is disconnected, he will be isolated and will not be able to hear the music. While music is playing the intercom is on and it is possible to speak with music in the background. To mute the microphones, reducing hissing from the microphones, it is possible to activate the Mute function (press the "
" for 2 seconds). To deactivate the mute function, press the "
" key for 2 seconds.
Yes. It is possible to connect to N-Com Bluetooth in two ways:
1) Via Bluetooth. Pair up the N-Com e-box and the TomTom Rider (HS profile). However in this way it is not possible to connect to the mobile phone or to the passenger via Bluetooth;
2) Via cable. If you buy the special cable it is possible to connect the Bluetooth clip supplied by TomTom Rider to N-Com. In this way it is still possible to connect to the passenger, (via cable or Bluetooth) and/or the mobile phone via Bluetooth.
The Nokia 6600 uses the Handsfree profile, supported by N-Com. The connection between phone and N-Com is always active. An incoming call is sent to the helmet. It is possible to use voice controls with this phone. However it is not possible to use the Bluetooth intercom and connect to the phone at the same time, so you have to choose whether you want to connect to the phone or the passenger via Bluetooth. If the user requires both, we recommend configuring with only one Bluetooth e-box (which connects to the phone) and connecting to the passenger by cable.
For a phone with a Handsfree profile, since it is not possible to connect the rider to the passenger via Bluetooth at the same time, we will only consider the case of a cable connection with the passenger. In this case the passenger can only hear the rider's voice during the conversation and not the caller's. The passenger voice is not heard by anyone.
Il telefono ha un funzionamento particolare a causa del software installato dalla casa costruttrice e non dal sistema N-Com.
The phone has a particular functionality for the software installed by our supplier and not for the N-Com System. After pairing up the helmet with the right profile – Headset (HS), the headphone symbol will not appear on the display.
When the rider receives a call, the phone begins the connection with N-Com system automatically. At the end of the call the phone needs about 10 seconds to close the Bluetooth connection, after this seconds the N-Com system reconnects to the passenger automatically.
When the rider makes a call, first of all the rider must connect his phone by pressing "on" briefly. At the end of the call the connection between mobile phone and N-Com system remains and it's not possible to pass automatically to the intercom. Only switching off and then switching on the Bluetooth e-box, can the rider close the Bluetooth connection and activate the intercom.
The Nokia N70 uses the HF profile. Pair it up again with the right profile and switch off the phone and the helmet at the end of the operation to memorize the pairing up. After pairing up, press briefly "on" to connect the N-Com system to the mobile phone. The symbol of headphone will appear on the mobile phone. To disconnect the helmet from the mobile phone press both "
" and "
" buttons at the same time and keep them pressed for about 2 seconds.
Yes. After pairing up the N-Com system to the phone (see the HF affiliation procedure) and connecting the phone to the N-Com system (press briefly the "on" button), the navigator information passes to the helmet. The navigator can receive the GPS signal by an external antenna connected to the phone via Bluetooth.
Yes. After pairing up the N-Com system to the mobile phone (see the HF affiliation procedure) and connecting the mobile phone to the N-Com system (press briefly the "on" button), the music passes to the N-Com system directly. No, it is not possible to listen to the radio directly from a Nokia N70, which does not broadcast radio sound via Bluetooth.
The range of the Bluetooth kit is around 10 metres. When the distance between two helmets increases, the connection falls. Only when the two helmets come back in the range (10 metres) is it necessary to press the "
" button for two seconds to reconnect the intercom.
This anomaly is due to the software version installed into the mobile phone. It's possible to solve this problem by updating the software of the phone to version v6.03.08. If it's not possible to update the software of the phone, it' s necessary to check that the phone didn't lose the connection with the helmet; to establish the connection press briefly the "on" button of the N-Com system. If the connection fails, switch off and switch on the mobile phone.
